Nova KBM is a bank with over 160-years long tradition of banking in Slovenia. Under the aegis of global alternative investment manager firm Apollo Global Management, Inc. (Apollo) and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the bank is following its vision to become the best bank in Slovenia.
An important factor on the path to excellence was the bank's decision to implement the Hibis information system and optimize its business processes.
The Hibis implementation represented the most complex transition to a new information system in the bank's history. For successful implementation within the given deadlines, the adoption of so called Hibis model bank solution was crucial. Hibis model bank or standard Hibis solution offers wide range of software solutions that satisfied the overall operations of the bank and took care of the automation of existing business processes and their adaptation to best practices in the market.
At the same time the implementation of this solution means proven, stable and reliable support that brings embedded good practice, resulting in optimization of resources and continuous improvements in software quality. In era of rapid change and the need to adapt to the needs of the market and regulators, this is a key advantage over the competition.
The project was completed within the set deadlines; the migration ran according to the planned scenarios and without significant migration issues and was extremely smooth given the scale. The number of applications was significantly reduced, which greatly decreased subsequent operating costs and simplified the entire information infrastructure.
The implementation of Hibis was the most extensive IT upgrade in the history of Nova KBM. Together with HRC, we carefully studied the business needs of our bank, and ensured that the new core banking system would optimally support our operations, either in dealing with customers or in back-office services. We upgraded and simplified our IT architecture landscape by reducing the number of applications by more than half. We shortened several work processes for our employees and ensured more standardised operations of the bank generally. We have improved data quality, ensured compliance with regulatory requirements, and reduced operational and other types of risk. Thanks to the modern and capable core system the Bank is now able to focus further on more sustainable, paperless operations and digitalization of our services and channels.
The implementation of Hibis in 2019 was one of the key steps on our path of transforming Nova KBM from a regional player to a leading bank in Slovenia. With the new core IT system the bank obtained a modern and capable IT backbone which has enabled us to streamline our product portfolio as well as accelerate digitalization of our services and channels. At the same time this supported our transition to paperless branches and fully automated Contact Center platform. Hibis has proven a solid IT platform also for the enhancements of our digital channels and we are immensely proud to see that our online and mobile bank have been selected the best in the country by E-laborat for two consecutive years. We have seen both our clients and employees benefit from constantly improved user experience, while enhancing and simplifying several internal work processes.
